| Abstract |
We present results from an RXTE monitoring campaign of the black hole candidate LMC X-3 since 1996 December. The spectral properties of this canonical soft state source show considerable variability on timescales of \$\backslashsim 100\$d. We report on these changes, including on two or possibly three instances where we found that the soft spectral component vanishes and where the X-ray spectrum of LMC X-3 resembles that of a hard state source such as Cyg X-I. |
