Title: Developing Deployable Quantum Sensors

Abstract:

In this talk I will present recent work from my lab on developing integrated devices that use quantum correlations to realize improved sensing capabilities. In particular I will focus on two platforms that show promise for deployability. The first uses integrated lithium niobate photonic circuits technologies we have developed in the last few years to generate and use squeezed light on a chip for measurements beyond the quantum noise limit [1,2]. The second platform uses micron-scale mechanical systems with vibrational modes between 500 MHz and 3 GHz. Coupling these systems to microwave superconducting qubits (transmons [3,4] and fluxoniums [5]) allows us to perform measurements beyond what is classically possible. I will discuss our efforts towards biological measurements with these devices.
