Abstract: Bright Vacuum Ultraviolet (VUV) light sources are an essential tool for
probing quantum materials, strong electronic transitions, and even nuclei,
but are scarce due to material limitations at short optical wavelengths. This
work bridges the gap by using phase-matched nonlinear frequency
upconversion in noble-gas-filled anti-resonant hollow core fibers
(AR-HCFs). We demonstrate a versatile tabletop instrument capable of
studying the rich physics in the VUV regime. We tailor this tabletop source
to target three distinct applications: a quasi-CW frequency comb for nuclear
clocks, a continuously tunable source for hypersonic atmospheric
spectroscopy, and a deep-VUV probe for trARPES.
