Abstract: The past few decades have born out exquisite improvements in the control of quantum systems, with quantum computing and quantum metrology at the forefront. It has therefore become essential to design methodologies for assessing the performance of these devices. Unsurprisingly, the field of quantum information has already paved the way forward. However, as evermore precise clocks and high fidelity systems are produced, it is necessary to continue to develop theory that can both suggest bona fide measures of quantum behavior, and quantify the performance, or lack thereof, of these devices. In this talk, we will explore several different avenues of characterization of myriad quantum systems.
