Who's Who In JILA Computing

We recently installed molden and mesa on the JILA Central NFS Server. A short description of each is below:

-mesa: 3-D graphics library that is similar in function to Open3D and OpenGL. Mesa may be the 3D library of choice, as Open3D is being retired from future releases of Tru64 UNIX (Digital UNIX).

- molden: An Xwindows tool that allows the user to view molecules. This is a replacement for Xmol, which is no longer being maintained. There are no immediate plans to retire Xmol, but users are encouraged to use molden, instead of Xmol.

jilau1 and jilasrv Maintenance:

jilau1 and jilasrv will not be available from 7:00 AM until 9:00 AM on Monday, 5 June, 2000. The purpose of this maintenance is to apply patches to the operating system. The patches should have no affect on user or served applications. During this time period, e-mail, Mathematica, IDL, TeX, Wave, NAG, and other applications served from our central NFS server will not be available.
