Event Details & Abstract: 

I will present a set of tools that involve strontium atoms interacting with a high-finesse optical cavity via narrow-linewidth optical transitions.Highlights include pulsed superradiance on the 1 mHz linewidth strontium clock transition, the demonstration of the most precise active atomic frequency reference to date, and interesting cavity-mediated spin-spin interactions.I will also briefly discuss a fundamentally new mechanism for laser cooling that may be useful for the cooling of molecules.
