Event Details & Abstract:

The Sun has been observed at radio wavelengths for many years using non-imaging dynamic spectroscopy or imaging techniques at fixed frequencies. While these observations have yielded key insights into a variety of phenomena and processes on the Sun, new diagnostics become available if imaging and spectroscopy are combined. This talk will discuss emerging techniques for exploiting imaging spectroscopy and will present several examples - primarily drawn from use of the Jansky Very Large Array - to make progress in constraining coronal magnetic fields above solar active regions, particle acceleration in solar flares, and using propagation phenomena to explore turbulence in the solar wind.
