Event Details & Abstract: 

Wavefront modulation has been demonstrated as an effective method of controlling the propagation of light through complex media. I will discuss how a digital micromirror device (DMD) can be implemented as a phase only spatial light modulator using a four pixel grouping technique. An iterative feedback technique used to determine the optimal wavefront to enhance transmission to any chosen point in the output field is used. Focus spots several hundred times brighter than the diffuse background and optimization speeds on the order of a thousand faster than traditional liquid crystal SLMs are achieved.
