Peter grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in physics from Princeton University. He was a political studies fellow at the Hudson Institute and wrote his undergraduate thesis on quantum nonlinear optics in superconducting circuits with Professor Andrew Houck. After graduating, Peter joined a small startup as a data scientist, but left to begin his PhD studies at CU Boulder in 2016. He joined the Kapteyn-Murnane group and is particularly interested in biological applications of imaging. In his free time, he enjoys hiking insanely long distances, martial arts, and photography.
