Event Details & Abstract:

Recent theory and numerics have revealed that the many-body localized phase is extremely fragile to ergodic inclusions. I will review this developments and I will explain what this means for the nature of the transition between a localized and a thermalising phase.  In particular, I will present an interative diagonalization scheme (arXiv:1706.09338) that is consistent with all what we know to hold true microscopically.
