Event Details & Abstract:

I will discuss several persistent and variable emission signatures predicted for accreting supermassive black hole binaries. Observing such objects can offer unique insights on cosmic expansion, accretion physics, and how supermassive black holes co-evolve with their host galaxies. The predicted variable signatures should be observed by forthcoming surveys such as LSST and eROSITA. In particular, I will present one class of variable emission that could masquerade as a stellar tidal disruption event in a quiescent galactic nucleus.
