There are several ways to get from Denver International Airport (DIA) to Boulder. This list shows some of the most convenient for visitors.

Getting to Boulder from DIA

By Bus

You can take the SkyRide from DIA to the Walnut Street Bus Station in Boulder. The cost is $12.00 per person. Exact change is necessary to give to the bus driver. The Boulder SkyRide runs once an hour from the east and west side of the terminal. You can check the departure times at SkyRide Schedule to Boulder.

To find the bus, exit from Level 5, the Baggage Claim Level, from doors 506 or 510 on the west side or doors 507 or 511 from the east side. Walk out to Island 5 and look for the bus bound for Boulder. The ride will take 65 to 95 minutes depending on the time of day.

Once in Boulder, you can connect with local buses or take a taxi to your hotel. Boulder Taxi Cab is at (303) 641-7829. If you are going to take another bus, ask for a transfer when you board the SkyRide. If you are staying at the St. Julien Hotel, you can call (720) 406-9696 and ask for their van to pick you up.

By Shuttle Van

You can take the Super Shuttle from DIA to your hotel. The cost is $25.00 per person. If you are staying with friends you can arrange to be dropped at their home for an extra fee. You can make a reservation online at Denver Super Shuttle. Alternately, you can purchase a ticket at the Super Shuttle counter at DIA.

Usually, a shuttle leaves every half hour. After exiting your plane take the DIA inter-terminal train to the main terminal and baggage claim. Exit the train and travel up the escalator. Turn left and walk 20 feet. The Super Shuttle desk will be on your left. The staff will tell you where to go to find your shuttle to Boulder. The ride takes 50 to 70 minutes depending on the number of stops the shuttle makes before reaching your destination.

By Car

You can rent a car from a variety of companies at DIA. You might search on Orbitz.com for comparative rates. You can catch a shuttle from Level 5, the Baggage Claim Level, to the rental car area of the airport. Your company will give you specific directions.

The quickest way to drive to Boulder is to take E470 which is a toll road. You will have to stop three times to pay tolls ($2.50, $2.50 and $3.00). The total trip will cost you $8.00. To take this route exit the airport and drive west on Pena Boulevard. Take exit 6B to Highway E470 toward Fort Collins. Merge onto Highway 470 North. Drive 33.1 miles stopping at three toll booths. Take the ramp onto Highway 36 West to Boulder. This drive will take 50 minutes.

Another route, without tolls, is to take Pena Boulevard to Highway I-70 West. Exit I-70 onto Highway 270 towards Boulder. Highway 270 will merge with Highway 36 which will take you into Boulder. This route can be slow during rush hour but it is very convenient at other times. The drive will take 60 to 90 minutes.

If you are driving directly from the airport to the Summer Picnic, you should exit Highway 36 on the Louisville exit. Turn right on S. McCaslin Boulevard. Drive north on S. McCaslin Boulevard for 2 miles. Turn left on South Boulder Road. Drive west on South Boulder Road for .8 miles. Turn left on to Barcelona Drive. St. Ambrose Church is the third driveway on the left. Park at the church and wait for our bus to pick you up and carry you to the home of Barney Ellison and Sally Sullivan. Yahoo map shows the fastest route from DIA to the party.
