ASTR 6000: Disks around stars
APS, University of Colorado

Organizers: Phil Armitage and John Bally

Format

The Fall seminar series aims to discuss what we know observationally and theoretically about disks around stars. We will meet Thursdays at 4pm in JILA's 10th floor seminar room. Most weeks we'll have two people giving presentations (either separately, eg. one talk discussing theoretical aspects and the other observations, or as a team). Links to the papers we will be reading each week will be posted below - for full access to the newer ApJ papers in particular you may need to use a machine with a university IP address.

These are not light reading! For an introductory review, try Magnetohydrodynamic winds and jets from accretion disks by Henk Spruit. This is good as far for Blandford / Payne-type models, but doesn't discuss the possible influence of the central star.
