PHYS 5770 Gravitational Theory (General Relativity) Spring 2013: Notes
Mathematica notebooks
My Notes
The latest (2018) version of the proto-book
General Relativity, Black Holes, and Cosmology
is linked
here.
The 2013 version is obsolete, and has been removed.
Other People's Notes
-
Matthias Blau's
Lecture Notes on General Relativity.
Highly readable.
The notes do not cover special relativity,
and do not get as far as rotating black holes (the Kerr metric).
However,
Blau does an incomparable job
of exploring the various subtle features of general relativity
from many complementary points of view.
Excellent fare for the newcomer to general relativity.
(These notes have apparently been updated and expanded
since I last looked them over in 2010.
As of Feb 2013, the notes are stated to be temporarily unavailable.
We look forward to seeing them back on line.)
-
Matt Visser's
Math 464: Notes on Differential Geometry.
Again, highly readable,
with a physicist's perspective clarifying the mathematics.
Fills in much of the mathematical context
that is missing from my own notes and lectures.
