PHYS 5770 Gravitational Theory (General Relativity) Spring 2008: Notes
Mathematica notebooks
My Notes
The latest (2018) version of the proto-book
“General Relativity, Black Holes, and Cosmology”
is linked
here.
The 2008 version is obsolete, and has been removed.
Other People's Notes
-
Matthias Blau's
Lecture Notes on General Relativity.
Highly readable.
The notes do not cover special relativity,
and do not get as far as rotating black holes (the Kerr metric).
However,
Blau does an incomparable job
of exploring the various subtle features of general relativity
from many complementary points of view.
Excellent fare for the newcomer to general relativity.
-
Matt Visser's
Math 464: Notes on Differential Geometry.
Again, highly readable,
with a physicist's perspective clarifying the mathematics.
Fills in much of the mathematical context
that is missing from my own notes and lectures.
