- Interstellar medium: Matter and energy existing between stars within a galaxy.
- Ion: Atom or molecule with a net electric charge.
- Interferometer: Device based on principle that two waves with the same phase that coincide will amplify each other while two waves of opposite phase will cancel each other out. It can be based on different waves, including radio waves, laser light, or matter waves.
