Abstract: Strong-field dissociative ionization of molecules is one of the most fundamental processes of the light-molecule interaction driven by intense laser pulses. This talk will focus on the observation of electron-nuclear correlation in the dissociative ionization of molecules by electron-ion coincidence measurement using Cold Target Recoil Ion Momentum Spectroscopy (COLTRIMS). First, I will present our recent experiment of visualizing and steering of electron recapture to Rydberg state of molecules in the dissociative frustrated double ionization of H2. Interestingly, there is strong energy sharing between the electron and nuclei induced by their correlated dynamics in the multiphoton dissociative ionization of molecules.

Using the joint energy spectrum, we experimentally observed the electron-nuclear energy sharing in the dissociative ionization of molecules.

 

Dr. Peifen Lu received her PhD in optics in 2013 from East China Normal University (ECNU). Since 2015 she is a research assistant in Prof. Jian Wu’s group in the State Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy in ECNU.

Her main research interests are in strong field multiphoton ionization, electron-nuclear correlation, molecular dissociation and Coulomb explosion.
